Hello and welcome to Jackson Rec. This page of the site is meant provide information on the Jackson Rec dealer/livery programs and answer any initial questions you might have in general about our business. Jackson Rec is a new business unit of Jackson Kayak. We have been fortunate to bring on some of the best talent in the industry for recreational kayak design and R&D and our first offering, the Day Trippers, reflect every bit of it. The Day Tripper comes in two offerings. Our “Club” version and our retail offering. The Club is just a stripped down version that is a 1/3 less the cost and has minimal bells and whistles, perfect for livery organizations. The retail version comes fully loaded with cargo netting, the “Day Tray” (a sliding tray for fishing/binoculars, cold beverage etc), “Sweet Cheeks” (our bean bag seating) and adjustable from your seat foot braces. Our focus is on the family experience and you will see that the three sizes (Mini Tripper, Day Tripper 10 and 12) are something that doesn’t have comparison in the industry today. The Mini Tripper is perfectly designed for kids. It fits children as young as 4 and will accommodate kids roughly to 13 years of age. The Day Tripper 10 and 12 are designed for adults and are more accessorized than any offering in the recreational market today.
Although Jackson Kayak has only been in business since 2004, we have already succeeded in becoming the #1 sold whitewater kayak in the US and Canada. And Jackson Rec is poised to be in the same position in the coming years. The main reason for this immediate success in whitewater is three fold, quality of materials/craftsmanship, great designs, and programs that provide our dealers/partners the best profits and least risk in the industry. Jackson Rec embodies those same traits and will do whatever it takes to make your experience with us one that will be hard to compare. In regards to quality, we use only the best materials in our kayaks. This is not mumbo jumbo, but factual. We are using the same Super Linear resin in our Day Tripper line that only some of our competitors utilize for their whitewater line. We use a super stiff and ultra light composite beam that runs the length of the hull to eliminate warping. 3 lb minicell foam walls (not laminate) increases floatation and provides great support, and we have a top of the line production facility in Sparta TN of which only the best make it past our rigorous quality control. All of this and more makes these the best built kayaks on the market. For those reasons, you can expect an investment in a Jackson Rec kayak to last many, many seasons.
Secondly, Eric Jackson (EJ) and David Knight have been a design team for 13 years. Previous to Jackson Kayak, they were the designers for Wavesport. Their designs have defined the paddlesports market year after year. As you see with our Day Tripper line, we have come out with an entirely new design that is unique and addresses many of the current trends in rec paddling today. The open cockpit design provides a focus on effortless access to gear and versatility for fishing, bird watching, overnight camping trips, or simply just paddling around. The Day Tripper’s main goal is to inspire confidence and it does so flawlessly. These boats are STABLE, light and they paddle straight… even after you stop paddling you don’t spin around!!
Thirdly, our programs… We have great terms for camps, outfitters, livery types and municipal organizations. For retailers, we offer some of the highest margins on our kayaks, and again that is for any size order. If retail is your business, please know that we have protected territories and that further discussion will need to take place to ensure your shop is not within another dealers pre-authorized area. We don’t do preseason orders…We don’t offer discounts for large orders… and most importantly “WE DON’T SELL TO BIG BOX or any discounters for that matter. We have a very stringent policy for MSRP. Jackson is very confident in our products and we don’t expect our partners to assume the risk of heavy debt in order to be a “good” partner to us. On the contrary, we would prefer that you only order what you need immediately and back fill as needed.
